Orthodontics for children
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic checkup by the age of 7 to see if any treatment is needed. The first permanent molars and incisors have usually come in by that time and crossbites, crowding, and other problems can be evaluated.
Early treatment can:
- Regulate the width of the upper and lower dental arches.
- Gain space for permanent teeth
- Avoid the need for permanent tooth extractions
- Reduce the likelihood of impacted permanent teeth
- Correct thumb sucking, and eliminate abnormal swallowing or speech problems.
Bottom line-sometimes starting early can make things go smoother as your child grows! However, Dr. Ghaffari is very conservative when it comes to early treatment and will only advise starting treatment when absolutely necessary.
Orthodontics for teens
A healthy, attractive smile can boost a teen’s self-image and literally change their life. Our braces are designed to help your teen achieve an optimal bite and aesthetically pleasing smile. Modern braces are more comfortable than ever and teens can even choose the color of their bands to personalize their look at each visit! Ghaffari Orthodontics offers metal braces, clear braces and Invisalign® for teens.
Sometimes, braces are not the only answer and no treatment is needed at all. Dr. Ghaffari will always provide an honest opinion to help you make a decision that works best for you and your family.
